Good Old Games betatesting broadens

News - A succession of fresh, quality news, from inside and outside of the WebGood news from the Good Old Games project, the on-line store that plans to change the retrogaming phenomenon into a business of DRM-free digital downloads. The message sent me via e-mail in these days talks about a success beyond the expectations for the closed beta program, therefore it has been decided to extend to anyone the opportunity to test the system.

We were originally planning to launch the closed beta on August 1 for a small set of people - says the above said mail - but our plans have changed and we’re delaying the beta a bit. We’ve decided to reward all of you for your great interest in GOG.com and we’ll give early access to everyone who signed up!“. Or that will sign up, considering that apparently it is still possible to send one’s mail on the store website to take part in the beta.

The retro-store is almost ready, they are adding the finishing touches and testing the payment system and the GOG.com team announces the sending of the first access keys “during the next few weeks“. Waiting for the opportunity to test firsthand what the Polish of CD Projekt have made, the only thing left to do is to begin to mentally choose which games to buy first among the few of the stock currently known. MDK is already on the top of my personal list: year 1997, poor graphics and so much imagination. Good old times…

I call bull on their part. Their “expanding” their beta seems to line up nicely with their original launch intention. And if you tage /beta onto the end of their website you’ll see a beta login page.

My theory….beta’s already started, and they didn’t want to anger us by not including us, so they said Beta has been delayed and sent those nice emails to make us feel included.

Do you mean this URL? http://www.gog.com/en/beta

Well, it could be as you say, or rather that the beta login is here but they are sending the access codes in groups…
